"Cyborgs are Dancing" is 20-minute electronic opera by Dr. Liza Seigido - award-winning electro-acoustic composer and multimedia artist. The piece was written for live processed soprano, live processed violin, live processed clarinet, motion-captured dancer, live analog synth modules, reactive video, reactive lighting, and audience participation via a wireless gaming controller. Cyborgs' libretto is derived from selected poetry from Francesco Petrarca's "Canzoniere" and is sung in the original Italian. The opera contemplates technology's potential to weaken and subjugate humanity. The work was workshopped on May 4th, 2019. The world premiere was generously funded by CMN Arts and was to take place in May 2020. The premier was canceled indefinitely. The work is now being produced in video format for distribution on various social media platforms.
